About Us

Our Story

Farming is in our blood. Nick’s great-grandfather, an orphan from Germany, started working at a young age as a farm hand to put his siblings through school. He saw an opportunity, bought a thresher, started a business, and grew his farm. Nick’s great uncle lit the fire in him to want to raise cattle.

Nick’s father took the path of an entrepreneur as a wood crafter instead of agriculture. Nick grew up working in his custom wood shop, where he was taught to put quality above all else. His business, Genuine Woodcraft, is the inspiration for our name, Genuine Beef.

Kassy comes from a long line of ranchers as well and grew up on a family-owned and operated cattle ranch in South Dakota. There she learned from her parents, her uncles, and her grandparents about cattle. She has worked in many different fields and areas, but has always enjoyed raising cattle from the back of a horse.

Nick used his years of experience as a ranch hand and ranch management in western South Dakota to gain the knowledge he needed to help us venture out on our own and raise our family by raising our own cattle. As we have been in operation for the last five years, we have provided our family with beef. It gives us great peace of mind knowing we can provide such a healthy food source for our family year-round.

We were overheard by friends when we were talking with family about getting beef to them, and they were also interested in getting some of our beef. The idea was born to offer our beef to western South Dakota and beyond. We want to offer others the same quality, security, and convenience for our family and friends!
